Hal St John of UK band Ooberfuse was inspired to write the song “Don’t Let It Go” two years ago, during his first visit to Myanmar. Hal St John says “I was amazed at the beauty and warmth of the people and culture of Myanmar. Their cultural traditions antedate many of those in the Western world yet to many outside Myanmar are unknown. The song is a message to Myanmar, and to everyone else who holds a precious dream in their hearts, to hold on to it
The music video, Don’t Let It Go, was shot in a bustling Myanmar market place under the watchful oversight of cheroot-smoking elders enthroned on elevated wooden platforms peering out from behind bursting wicker baskets of fresh local produce. The music video showcases local regional dance moves, including foot shuffles and exotic hand jives, against the swaying backdrop of banana bunches. Some claim that the gleaming brass neck coils of the Kayan Lahwi protect against tiger bites.
