Album Review: Once Human “The Life I Remember”

Once Human marks the return of Logan Mader (Machine Head, Soulfly) to the stage; we all knew it would take something amazing to get him to stop just producing (having produced and/or mixed such heavy weights as Five Finger Death Punch, Gojira, and Periphery), and now we have it. The debut album, The Life I Remember, out now on earMUSIC (Edel Germany Gmbh), is a killer from the get go, serving up some unrelenting and punishing music that is sure to get all Metal Heads pumped.

Newcomer and multi-instrumentalist Lauren Hart takes the music by the throat and only lets up for a couple of ballads/clean singing in a few tracks, which make the extreme Melo-Death type tracks even stronger. Right after the slow orchestral intro we get hit in the head with the track “Ground Zero” followed by the current single “You Cunt”.  It just keeps going and, as stated above, to me, the ballads’ strong contrast make the album even stronger.

I went and bought this record because I have listened to so much Logan has played in and produced and it did not let me down at all. I say check this out and get on the bandwagon now before they explode. You will thank me later.
