The latest CD from The Blackmail Seduction combination of excellent song writing, perfect vocals, great harmonies and an amazing studio engineer who understands sound stage. This could only be called “Ridiculous Alternative Rock.”

Blackmail Seduction has been compared to Cheap Trick, Green Day, Tom Petty, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Beatles. Lead vocalist Jess McClellan has a voice that sounds like you’ve heard him before yet his vocals are totally unique. I was especially excited about the bands harmonies and dual guitar interplay within the confines of the rock music genre.

This band is not a one trick pony either. The guys can rock in addition to getting soft and playing that memorable love song. On the song “Hold me Down” and “Friends” I am reminded of the great vocal bands of the 60’s and 70’s like The Beatles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, America just to name a few.

McClellan can rock with the best of them and still slow it down and show a tender side, the side that makes your neck hair’s raise up and give a salute to a job well done.

Band members include.

Jess McClellan: Lead and Backing Vocals, Guitars

Troy Hardy: Guitars, Backing Vocals, Keys, and Additional Bass on “War At Home”

Mike Mennell: Bass

Blair Sinta: Drums and Percussion

Additional Percussion on “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” by Jaden McClellan and Julian McClellan

All seven songs on this CD were intellectually stimulating and musically vibrant.

The CD begins with a very well done Beatles cover song and ends with a rock anthem.

War at Home” was a great song to finish with. It really showed the potential this band could reach in future projects. A Grunge meets Alternative Rock classic with many twists and turns. Even when the song appeared to end it didn’t. The song starts back again and builds to a final conclusion.

Songs from the CD:

  1. You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away (Lennon/McCartney) *
  2. I’ll Be Right Here
  3. California Jackpot
  4. Hold You Down
  5. Are You With Me
  6. Friends
  7. War At Home

* Published by Sony/ATV Music Publishing

Conclusion: If this is the future of rock music, then rock music is in good hands.  Every song on this offering was pristine in performance and sound quality. This CD has no fillers! I know it’s early in the year but this CD is the best I have heard in 2015.
