BRIDGE NINE WELCOMES SILVER SNAKES TO THEIR ROSTER

Los Angeles’ SILVER SNAKES have just announced that their second full length, Year of the Snake, is set for an early 2014 Digital/CD/Vinyl release through Bridge Nine Records. The band’s vocalist, guitarist and principle songwriter Alex Estrada said, “We are excited to be working with Bridge Nine records. A lot of blood went into the new record and it means a lot to us that they believe in what we are doing. This new record is much darker and heavier in different ways than everything we’ve done before and It’s great to be working with people that understand the fact that we have no interest in doing the same thing twice.”

Year of the Snake is the follow-up to Silver Snakes’ 2011 critically acclaimed debut, Pictures of a Floating World, and was named one of Alternative Press’ “Most Anticipated Albums of 2013”. This new album was produced by the band’s own Alex Estrada, whose “day job” is recording bands including Nails, Touché Amore and Joyce Manor. Roger Camaro of No Motive, who co-produced Pictures, worked with Estrada recording drums and basic tracks for the album as well.

After the recording process in LA, these new Silver Snakes tracks were sent to Salad Days Studios in Baltimore, MD and mixed by Brian McTernan, whose resume’ includes acts influential to SILVER SNAKES, such as, Cave In, Engine Down, Thrice, and Circa Survive. Jay Mass of Defeater then mastered the album. The resulting eleven songs see SILVER SNAKES going in a darker direction than they had visited on Pictures, and finds their dynamic range expanding. The band has grown louder and more dissonant on tracks like “No Color,” while getting quieter and more desolate on tracks like “Lock.”

Since the release of Pictures of a Floating World in November of 2011 on CD via Siren Recordings and on vinyl in July of 2012 on Animal Style Records, Silver Snakes have toured with the likes of HRVRD, Broadway Calls, Sainthood Reps, Defeater, Junius, Souvenirs and Aeges (members of Pelican, Shift, The Rise) and done scattered dates with Coheed & Cambria, Braid, Balance & Composure, Shiner, Touché Amore, Narrows and La Dispute. The band has also appeared at festivals such as Sound & Fury, Gainesville’s The Fest, Fun Fun Fun Nights and South By Southwest. Amongst all of the touring and shows, Silver Snakes found time to hit the studio to record a digital single, “Old Light” (which was made available by Animal Style and came as a companion download to the LP), a split with fellow Southern Californians, Souvenirs (released in conjunction with their west coast tour) and a track for Hopeless Records’ 2013 “Take Action” compilation.

SILVER SNAKES will be touring out to The Fest for the second year in a row – check out the routing below and stay tuned for more SILVER SNAKES news coming soon from Bridge Nine Records.
