Across North America, critics are raving about ‘TURISAS2013’:
“These Finns have written an album that will sound superb live – breathtaking even… TURISAS have made an album for themselves as a band today, writing songs about yesterday, hoping to inspire the actions of tomorrow.”
–MetalInjection.net (5 stars)
“A highly inspired, musically challenging record that picks up where ‘Stand Up And Fight’ left off. Great production that pays equal attention to each detail in the song.”
“It has been stuck on my playlist since the moment I got it and it won’t come off. Nygard and company continue to be remarkably agile in their writing, with hyper-modern, but deft, mixing and mastering and performances that never leave any doubt as to the band’s ability.” –AngryMetalGuy.com (4/5)
“As with all progressions, I suspect some may struggle to accept the change, but there’s so much that is inherently TURISAS sounding about the album that it’s not really a departure, more of an advancement… I can only wholly approve. Top work!”
–Planet Mosh (9/10)
“There’s a stomping passion that would make the movie ‘Braveheart’ pale in comparison, intense pounding like a serious beating is about to take place, but then the fifth track, ‘Run Bhang-Eater, Run!’ has this gypsy lightheartedness that one might expect from a band like Gogol Bordello. The rest of the album is far from gypsy punk, but it commands your attention, tricks you in and takes you on a journey.”
–Examiner.com / Detroit Tourism
“A brilliant effort with full marks for both the songs and quality of musicianship!”
“I don’t think anyone does this sort of uplifting, sing along melodic rock quite like TURISAS. Their ear for a catchy hook is unrivaled, forget Andrew Lloyd Webber, these guys know how to craft a massive theatrical tune. TURISAS have been moving away from the ‘classic’ Scandinavian metal sound for a while now, and while ‘TURISAS2013′ is unmistakably them, it showcases yet another evolution in their sound… Me, I love it.” –CackBlabbath.com
“Let’s cut to the chase. TURISAS’ ‘TURISAS2013’ is a clear contender for Album Of The Year honors … Find this album. Buy it, then allow yourself to get swept up in the storytelling and bravado of it all. Then buy two copies and give them to friends.”
The band released an epic video for the track “Ten More Miles” last week Says TURISAS frontman Mathias Nygard of the clip: “Times change, people change, bands change… but do they really change?” Produced and directed by fellow Finn Jukka Salo, the video was the third track to be unveiled from ‘TURISAS2013’, following “Into The Free”:
and “For Your Own Good”
The new album was released September 3 in North America, and is produced by vocalist Mathias Nygard. Recorded by Nygard and guitarist Jussi Wickstrom in a remote house outside of Helsinki, Finland, the mixing and mastering were done in London at Orgone Studios with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano [Ghost B.C., Cathedral, Primordial, Ulver].
