Though an official statement has yet to be released, Linkin Park bandmate Mike Shinoda has confirmed via Twitter on the passing of vocalist Chester Bennington. Bennington was 41.
Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.

Linkin Park has been one of the most influential alternative rock bands in history. Shaping the 90’s and early 2000’s scene, Linkin Park introduced rap metal to radio with hits such as “In The End,” “Numb,” “Somewhere I Belong,” and “What I’ve Done.” In recent days, the band reshaped their sound to electro-pop rock. Their latest album One More Light was released just earlier this year.
The news of Chester Bennington’s passing is truly shocking and leaving fans brokenhearted. It has been reported his death was of suicide. Please always know it is okay to not be okay, and seek help instead of harm in troubled times. We know reaching out can be the hardest part sometimes, but you DO matter.
RIP, Chester. We will all miss you.
