Sabrina Carpenter just dropped her new single “Why” following her sophomore album with Hollywood Records. For Carpenter fans, “Why” can be seen as an evolved version or a sequel to “On Purpose.” The electro-pop song starts off with isolated vocals going along to a simple beat of keys. Snapping and heavy bass soon follows, delicately complimenting her voice as she sings “You can call it fire and ice / but we work so well / and we don’t even know why.”
The “Girl Meets World” star has always been seen as mature for a young actress/musician, and the new song shows no different. “Why” goes into perspective of the common phrase “opposites attract”, reflecting on when a relationship feels effortless despite any differences.
