The Wizards of Winter kicked off their holiday tour at the historic St. George Theatre in Staten Island. I felt honored be at this show, as this was the Wizards first show on the books in New York City. And if you ask me, there’s not a better place to do it other than the St. George Theatre. Decorated inside with décor from the early 1900’s, this was just the key to kicking off a great evening of some of the best holiday music around.
What makes the Wizards of Winter stand is out the fact that they are one of the only holiday themed bands in today’s market. On top of that they create and play their own material. They do cover a few Trans-Siberian Orchestra songs as well, but they are not in any way a tribute band. That’s what I love about seeing the Wizards of Winter live. Throughout the journey, you’ll get to hear tracks from their own original catalog such as Spirit of Christmas, The Arctic Flyer, Flight Of The Snow Angels and Gales of December. Each year this powerhouse of a band works together to creatively change the production that they roll out on the road. It is also a magical Christmas story and you never know what they may have in store.
Be prepared to have fun at this show. Watch out for beach balls (yes, that’s right beach balls in the winter) and heavy amounts of snow. The Wizards of Winter will be on the road throughout late December and every December to come. The holiday season does not truly begin until you experience this fascinating show in person. Make your way out to a show and take the family. You will not be disappointed. Merry Christmas!
