Listen to Wages’ Beautiful Rendition of Jeff Buckley’s “What Will You Say”

LA ambient rock band WAGES has released a beautiful rendition of Jeff Buckley’s “What Will You Say,” which he occasionally played live but never recorded in a studio. The band is coming off their recently released full-length Glace, and wanted to unveil their rendition of Buckley’s gem in celebration of his 50th birthday.

“Jeff Buckley would have been 50 years old on November 17th of this year. Before his untimely passing, he wrote, demoed and performed a handful of songs that were never fully finished as recorded pieces,” explains vocalist Nick Byron Campbell. “For his 50th birthday, we wanted to take one of those songs and record a studio version of it – not as a replacement for anything he would have or could have done, but as an homage. The song is a piece he wrote with Chris Dowd (of Fishbone) and played live multiple times, though no studio or home recordings of it have been released.”
