Gallery & Review: YES at Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, NJ 08.13.16

Legendary rockers YES made Morristown, NJ a stop on their 2016 summer tour “The Album Series” earlier this month. While in Morristown, YES blew the roof off of what was formerly known as the Mayo Performing Arts Center. They played their 1980’s album Drama in it’s full entirety, which is something that has never been done before. They didn’t stop there, they also played sides one and four of their 1973 double album, Tales From Topographic Oceans.

Fans of all ages gathered together to see the show. Before the show kicked off, chatter broke out in the crowd amongst YES fans of all ages. Fans were raving about the tour, as they had caught previous shows prior to Morristown on the tour. They hit the nail on the head – YES was performing at a caliber that they hadn’t reached in years.

YES guitarist Steve Howe was on fire and could often be seen smiling, as he played his guitar with emotion and energy. The energy was picked up by the crowd and at this point during Into The Lens, the crowd traveled through a time machine back to the late 70’s and early 80’s, where they stayed for the remainder of the evening.

The show was impeccable and showcased all of the music from YES’ catalog that every fan wants to hear, as they played for near three hours. The icing on the cake however was the encore. For the encore, YES performed Roundabout and Starship Trooper. Starship Trooper showcases the unnatural, extraordinary musicianship and skill that each band member has. You will not want to miss this show. Ask yourself when you’ll be able to see the arrangement of music from YES and you’ll be there.
