Dan O’Connor’s Royalty Free Music FAQ’s

Q: How can I license your music to use in my video, film, game or other media?

Package of music: Click here to license my package of 77+ mp3s.

Single song: Click here to donate $10 and I will send you the mp3 link.

Q: How can I download your music for listening?

My music is available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Last.fm, Xbox Music, Deezer, Rdio and every other major music service. Search danosongs or your favorite song name. Not all of my songs are on my site but are still available for listening through these services

Q: Do you still license your music free?

No I do not. As of June 10, 2014 I stopped licensing music for free. If you downloaded my music for free before June 10, 2014, even if the song is no longer on the site, your license is still valid and you can use the music: http://danosongs.com/danosongs.com-license.pdf.

I do not allow free licensing and downloads any more because my music was often being claimed by companies on YouTube without my permission and used in other ways not allowed by the license. So I did this to protect those who use my music correctly.

Q: How can I prove to YouTube and other sites that I have permission to use your music?

You can reply with the following as verification of the license:

1. The name of the artist: Dan O’Connor (DanoSongs.com)

2. The name of the track: Example: The Owl Named Orion

3. Direct link to the song: http://www.danosongs.com/music/mp3filename.mp3 (The name of the file you downloaded)

Example: http://www.danosongs.com/music/danosongs.com-theowlnamedorion.mp3

Note: If I remove a song from the site the link is still there for disputes.

4. Direct link to the license terms:

Q: I am getting a “Matched Third Party Content” notice on my YouTube video when I use your music. What should I do?

Please follow the steps outlined below and if you have more questions please check the YouTube Help Forum or contact YouTube at copyright@youtube.com.

It’s usually a mis-identification by software or a third party claiming my music by mistake. These are your options if you get a third party match:

1. Dispute the claim using the information above

2. Use the “Remove a Song” or “Swap Audio Track” YouTube tools

3. Re-edit your video to use different music

If you choose to dispute and it is rejected then you can send me the details and video link and I will contact the company making the claim.

Q: Why did you remove a song I am looking for from the site?

Because of mis-identifications by YouTube as other songs or someone was claiming YouTube Content ID on it without my permission. So I take down songs to protect those who use my music correctly. I also stopped allowing free downloads to prevent this misuse.

For listening the songs can still be found on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Last.fm, Xbox Music, Deezer, Rdio and every other major music service. Search danosongs or song name.

Q: Can you recommend any good creative commons music?

Check out Incompetech.com

Q: Can you compose music for my film, video, game or other project?

If you have a budget of $750 or more for music then please contact me with details. Definitely not for free or just for credit.
