Austin Band Boswell’s EP Beryllium

The home page of Austin based indie rock band Boswell reminds us that they span their decades, specializing in classic rock oldies, dance favorites from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s to today. Switching off lead vocals between Melanie Heide and bassist Justin Vennay, the five piece powerhouse has kept private parties and festivals (including The Grand Prix of Houston) rocking this past year with their explosive twists on classics by The Beatles, The Stones, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Patsy Cline, The Who, etc.

Most hard working bands are content to channel the legends indefinitely, but just over a year since they finalized their lineup, Boswell’s jumping head first into creating an indie rock legacy of their own with their dynamic recording debut Beryllium. The five track EP includes Melanie’s searing rendition of The Beatles’ “Oh! Darling,” but it’s testament to Boswell’s deep songwriting and performing talents that their four originals are equally compelling and provocative.
