Harvest Records announces the re-release of Bootstraps’ self-titled debut album on February 18th, available today for pre-order. The band will start a three night residency at Los Angeles’ legendary Hotel Café on January 29th (performance schedule below). Recently signed to Harvest, Bootstraps have remixed and remastered their eponymous album for re-release, showcasing a new chapter for the buzz band. Music from the album has been featured on televisions shows such as ABC’s “No Ordinary Family,” “Private Practice” and “Betrayal, NBC’s “Parenthood”, and CBS’s “Elementary”. Bootstraps was named Amazon MP3 “Rising Star” of 2013 and included on Rdio’s Best of 2012 list.
The self-titled album was recorded by Skip Saylor (Tom Petty, Wilco) in Northridge, California after actor/director Sam Jaeger asked Beckett to write songs for his award-winning film Take Me Home. The band spent one day in the studio recording songs live, in an attempt to capture raw moments. The result led them to return for four more sessions, tracking three songs a day to complete the record with the help of Richard Dodd (Kings of Leon, The Raconteurs).
Formed in Los Angeles by Jordan Beckett (vocals, guitar, piano), Bootstraps also includes Nathan Warkentin (drums and vocals) and David Quon (guitars, piano, and vocals). The band’s name is a play on the expression, “pull yourself up by the bootstraps.”
